Outbreaks in Care Homes

Public Health England have created resources with advice for care home staff experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks. Please see the video playlist below for advice on getting to & from work, testing & tracing, and what to wear.

Sleepio and Daylight Access

The Care Provider Alliance has recently partnered with Big Health to provide free access to Sleepio and Daylight for all care staff to help protect their mental health until the end of 2020.

You can find information on the programmes and how to access them below:

Sleepio is a highly personalised, digital sleep improvement programme based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), that gets to the root of stubborn poor sleep. Sleepio users interact with The Prof, their virtual sleep expert, who teaches them evidence-based skills via 6 weekly video sessions. Sleepio is backed by clinical evidence, including 12 published RCTs and 37 published papers.

Visit from a computer or laptop to access Sleepio.

Daylight is an app that will teach you ways to manage worry and anxiety in your life. Through cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) techniques Daylight offers audio-led guidance tailored to your unique problematic thoughts, behaviours, and responses to worry and anxiety. The programme introduces you to a range of techniques and guides you through daily practice sessions.

Visit to access Daylight.

New Digital Learning Hub Launched by Health Education England

The Learning Hub is a new digital platform developed by Health Education England that provides easy access to a wide range of resources that are pertinent to education and training in health and care. New features will be frequently released to provide a comprehensive learning experience for user.

You are invited to access the Learning Hub either by using an eligible e-Learning for Healthcare log in details or by creating a Learning Hub account.

The Learning Hub support site offers a range of frequently asked questions (FAQs), as well as further guidance, including a ‘Getting Started’ quick reference guide, and support articles to help introduce you to using the Learning Hub.

Resources on Hydration

Oxford Academic Health Science Network has developed a series of short animations which aim to help care home staff keep their residents happy, healthy and hydrated. The six animations offer handy hints and link to additional resources available through the award-winning Good Hydration initiative.

The Care Certificate

Developed following the review of health and social care support workers by Camilla Cavendish (2013), the Care Certificate is an identified set of standards that health and social care workers adhere to in their daily working life. Designed with the unregistered workforce in mind, the Care Certificate was developed to provide structured and consistent learning to ensure that care workers have the same introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe, quality care and support. You can access eLearning for Health’s online programme here. The Care Certificate e-learning programme supports those workers who are studying elements of the Care Certificate in both health and social care. It has been designed to support the theoretical component of their learning and provide a focus for discussion with the student’s mentor and assessor.

More information about the Care Certificate can be found here
