Health Education England’s (HEE) Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team is very aware of the need for urgent guidance for the safe return to simulation training following the initial halt because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, with the support of experts in the field, a document entitled ‘COVID-19 toolkit for safe simulation in health and care’ has been prepared and published here.

This simple toolkit highlights the five areas that need to be considered before embarking upon a return of face to face simulation training, followed by some suggestions as to how this might be done:

1.     Stakeholders

2.     Assess risks

3.     Environment

4.     Face to face

5.     Remote access

It ends with a key note about evaluation, which is going to be imperative in encouraging future development.

We would be extremely grateful if you would share the details of the toolkit with your networks and, if possible, please confirm with whom it has been shared.

A second, follow up, document that will include more detailed advice and guidance will also be added to the HEE website very soon.  If you require any further advice, or have comments to make on the document, please contact:
